The Passage of an Icon
It is with a deep sense of loss that the Nigeria Infectious Diseases Society (NIDS) learnt of the passing away of our teacher, mentor, friend and colleague, Professor Lovett Lawson. Until his death, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Infectious Diseases Society. An avid scholar, a true gentleman, a superb physician, a wonderful teacher. He went above and beyond the call of duty in the organisation and execution of all our activities. He led the charge in the war against Infectious Diseases in Nigeria especially Tuberculosis, amongst others. Professor Lawson played a significant role in mentorship often extending a helping hand in lifting younger ones to the rarefied heights of excellence he had achieved. We extend our condolences to the family. He will be sorely missed.
